How Does the Color Palette Extractor Work?

Our color palette extractor uses a combination of advanced image processing libraries to create palettes of various lengths and styles. When you upload a PDF, the tool reads the document and converts the pages into images. It then analyzes the colors in the images to generate a custom color palette tailored to your content.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Upload your PDF file by clicking the "Upload PDF" button.
  2. Once the PDF is uploaded, the tool will process the file and display 15 palettes.
  3. Choose from the available color palette types: Qualitative, Sequential, or Diverging.
  4. Select the desired number of colors (2 to 20) for your palette.
  5. Copy the hex color codes and use them in your design projects or visual content.

Newest Features

  • The tool now lists the most-used colors. The top 1-20 colors are displayed. These are the colors with the highest counts per pixel.
  • On the "Most Used" tab you will find a plot of the frequency of color in your file. This is useful for seeing which colors predominate and whether two colors that are close to each other appear in similar quantities.
  • Zoom in on the pixels you want to select colors more precisely!
  • Copy a formatted string of your palette in plain text or formatted for Python, JavaScript, or R.
  • Add any new color across the entire spectrum using the color picker.
  • Add the inverse of any color in the palette if you are looking for something to stand out!
  • Now works with PNG, GIF, JPEG and all other image file types. Even multiple at the same time!

Custom Number of Colors in Palettes

Now you can choose whether you want 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 or 20 colors or any number in between! The tool is now faster too! And, you can copy-paste the colors by clicking on any swatch (or block of color).

Click the PDF to Identify Colors

This new feature allows you to click on any portion of the PDF and then colors appear in the sidebar. That way you can select all or a selection of the original colors.
