PDF page-numbering tool
Add Page Numbers to a PDF
Number every page—or just the pages you choose—without rebuilding, flattening, or turning your PDF into images.
How to add page numbers to a PDF
- Choose your PDF.
- Select which PDF pages to number and how the numbers should look.
- Review the automatically updated preview, then download the finished PDF.
Useful for reports, handouts, packets, and scanned documents
Add simple numbers, “Page 1,” “1 of 10,” or “Page 1 of 10.” Start at zero or any other number, skip covers and front matter, and place the number in any top or bottom corner—or centered.
Frequently asked questions
Will this make my PDF blurry?
No. The tool overlays vector text and preserves the original PDF pages rather than converting them to images.
Can I skip the cover page?
Yes. Set “First PDF page to number” to 2—or any later page—and choose the number that should appear there.
Can I number only part of the PDF?
Yes. Choose the first and last PDF pages to number. Pages outside that range remain unnumbered.
Are password-protected PDFs supported?
Unlock the PDF first, then upload the unlocked copy. The tool does not ask for or retain PDF passwords.
Is the tool free?
Your first final numbered PDF is free without an account. After that, sign in or choose a SuperTool plan. Previewing and changing the numbering options does not use your free result.
What happens to my file?
The PDF and generated result live in temporary storage for your app session. SuperTool does not publish or sell uploaded files. See the privacy policy for details.
