Brighten Dark Photos

Lighten an underexposed photo. Adjust Lighten, then download a full-size JPEG. PNG transparency is flattened onto white. Brightening cannot recover lost detail.

Open the tool in a new tab

Upload one still PNG or JPEG up to 12 MB and 4 million pixels. Your download keeps the original image dimensions.

How to brighten a photo

  1. Upload a still PNG or JPEG.
  2. Adjust Lighten while comparing the original and preview. Start with the default setting, then increase it gradually.
  3. Download your full-size JPEG. The download has no preview mark.

Questions about brightening photos

Which photos can I upload?

Use a still PNG or JPEG up to 12 MB and 4 million pixels. For example, a 2000 × 2000 image fits the pixel limit. Resize larger photos before uploading.

Will the photo stay the same size?

The JPEG keeps the original image dimensions. Transparent PNG areas become white. The preview is a smaller, marked copy; your download is the full-size result.

Can this recover details hidden in darkness?

It can make an underexposed photo easier to see, but it cannot recreate detail that the original image did not capture. Try a modest adjustment first to avoid washing out bright areas.

Can I try it without an account?

You can create one result without an account. Further use follows the SuperTool account options shown in the tool.

Your photos
