Open the tool in a new tab

How it works

  1. Open the tool and upload one PNG or JPEG photo.
  2. Choose Natural for balanced gray tones or High contrast for a stronger black-and-white look. Preview the image before downloading.
  3. Download your finished JPEG. Your original file stays unchanged.

Image formats and limits

Upload one PNG or JPEG, up to 12 MiB and 4 million pixels. The download is a JPEG at the image’s original pixel dimensions. Transparent PNG areas become white; JPEG does not preserve transparency.

One result to try

Try one completed result without an account. Further new results require sign-in and available paid access. Previews are free. Downloading the same completed result again does not use another allowance. Current access options are shown inside the tool.

Privacy

Your image is uploaded for processing in a temporary session workspace. The tool processes a copy and does not change the original file on your device. Temporary working files are cleaned up when the processing session ends. See our privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

What will the effect look like?

Grayscale uses shades of gray to keep detail between black and white. High contrast makes dark areas darker and bright areas brighter; it does not turn every pixel into solid black or white.

Can I keep a transparent background?

No. This tool exports JPEG with a white background behind transparent areas. Keep your original PNG if you need its transparency.

Can I edit several photos at once?

This tool handles one photo at a time. Upload another image to start a different result.
